Central grad to make debut with La Crosse Symphony

It’s a holiday homecoming this weekend for a La Crosse native making a career in classical music. 

Bobby Levinger will perform on piano with the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra this weekend, during its “Holiday Romance” concerts at Viterbo. 

Levinger is 23, and just graduated from Central High School five years ago, and says he didn’t have a long-range plan to become a concert pianist.

“My goal was always to just become a better musician, and you know, I just always loved the music and that’s taken me to wonderful places,” said Levinger.

The 23-year-old musician is working on two graduate degrees at the University of Michigan, and has earned honors at state and national music contests.

The Symphony performs its holiday concerts this Friday and Saturday night.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
