For a short time on Thursday, the mail room at Mid-West Family in La Crosse became an art gallery.

Following the lead of a museum in Florida, MWF traffic manager Peggy Schelbe taped a banana to a wall, as a temporary work of art.

Earlier this month, an artist duct-taped a banana to a wall at Art Basel Miami Beach.

The Florida exhibit was put up for bid, and it sold for $120,000, after which a “performance artist” ate the banana.

The La Crosse banana was taken down after a few minutes on display.
