Attorney for ousted UW-L professor, accused of sexual misconduct, slams university’s report, calls victim and supporters “minions”

Arts Professor Joel Elgin is responding to University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow’s letter Tuesday, as he announced Elgin had resigned, rather than dispute a sexual harassment investigation.

Elgin’s attorney, Cheryl Gill, called student Caycee Bean and her supporters “minions,” who “canceled” Elgin’s career with bogus allegations.

Gill calls university investigators not independent and added most of Elgin’s responses were ignored and not part of Gow’s report.

As for why Elgin didn’t speak with Gow, Gill says the university’s attorney said that his accumulated sick leave was at risk, which can be used to purchase health care coverage after retirement.

She said faculty at UW-L should be worried that this could happen to them next.

Bean is set to have a press conference with her attorneys on Thursday morning.

It’s not “Gow’s” report, is it? UW-L asked an outside group (UW System?) to do the investigation, right?
