Several Coulee Region school districts exceeded expectations according to the Wisconsin DPI district report card for 2018-19.

That includes Onalaska, which superintendent Todd Antony sees as a reflection of the hard work of staff and students

“We’re proud of where our schools ended up,” Antony said. “For all five schools to be in the exceeding expectations category is truly great.”

The results are a combination between the Forward exam for elementary and middle school students, and the ACT test for high school students.

“The important areas we look at are an overall achievement, the growth of our students, as well as closing gaps,” Antony said.

Antony says they take the results of each individual school and use the report card to determine the school improvement plan for the following year.

Other area schools exceeding expectations included Holmen, Bangor and West Salem.

The La Crosse School District met expectations.
