The new Event Center in La Crescent may be complete and open for business, but it’s still busy raising money to pay off the costs of construction.

A donor, who wants to stay anonymous, is offering to match $500,000 in new donations to the center.

The new campaign, called “Let’s Finish It,” has raised $200,000.

Its goal is to collect the remaining $300,000 before the end of the year, in order to get the matching donation.

The Event Center near Highway 61 replaced the old La Crescent American Legion Hall, and includes a new Best Western Hotel on the site.

About three dozen nonprofit events have been held at the center since its grand opening in May, hosting about 8,000 guests.
