Tomah man to be tried for abuse-related death of 3-year-old

A Tomah man will be scheduled for trial in the death of a 3-year-old child at his home.

Marcus Anderson is accused of first-degree murder and child abuse, along with 11 other charges, in the May death of Kyson Rice. 

An autopsy showed that the boy had a brain injury and a broken rib, along with dozens of other injuries consistent with physical abuse. 

Anderson said the child had fallen and claimed he had struck the boy in an attempt to give him CPR. 

Anderson will be scheduled to enter a ‘not guilty’ plea at a later date. 

No date has been set for the trial.
