A one-vehicle accident on Sept. 30 may have ultimately caused the driver’s death.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene after a black 2004 Ford Taurus hit a tree near County Hwy. A and Jordan Ave. in the Town of Ridgeville. The car had front-end damage, and the driver was taken by ambulance to a nearby medical facility.

The sheriff’s office reported the driver died Oct. 12 possibly due to injuries from the crash.

The incident remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office. The name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of the family.
