An old business on La Crosse’s south side could be torn down soon, to make way for a new family home.

The city plan commission approves the proposed demolition of a building at the corner of 10th and Hood Streets.

For many years it housed Kabat’s Tavern, and later operated as a beauty salon.

Habitat for Humanity would like to build a house on that lot, which would be the first Habitat project in La Crosse specifically built for a veteran.
