Motorcycle crash near Stoddard kills De Soto rider

A motorcycle rider was killed this weekend, after hitting a dog on Highway 35 near Stoddard, Wis.

Michael Long of De Soto, Wis., hit the animal on the highway around 9:30 p.m. Saturday and was thrown off his cycle.

The 61-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident happened south of Spring Coulee Road in Vernon County.

It appears to be the county’s first traffic death of 2019.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
