Big employers to welcome job seekers at mini-fair

Area manufacturers are looking for workers who can hit the ground running, as the companies get ready for summer production. 

People looking for work can find out about those openings Thursday, during the April Mini Job Fair at the Workforce Development Center on East Avenue S. in La Crosse. 

Western Tech business services coordinator Kevin Ruetten says the Trane Company is one firm which has a need for certain skilled workers, especially welders.   

Ruetten says manufacturing companies also can offer training to people who have what are called ‘soft skills’…good at communication, but maybe not trained in technical skills. 

Reinhart, Kwik Trip, and LHI also will be represented at the job fair.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
