No cause known for house fire that displaced Chaseburg family

Firefighters in Vernon County are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a Chaseburg house built less than a year ago.

The blaze broke out early Thursday morning at the house on Ernies Lane.

Two adults and two children were able to get out of the house safely, along with the family’s dog.

The house is considered a total loss.

Seven local fire departments spent about nine hours at the scene, at a time when the wind chill got down to about -40 degrees.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
