Music lovers in the La Crosse area will soon be down a venue to enjoy local entertainment.

The Brickhouse located on 5th Avenue South announced this week it would be closing its doors in April and selling the building.

Owner Keith Brown said he couldn’t imagine the big time bands the place has seen when he bought the building two and a half years ago.

He added that he is in the process of looking at other locations to possibly do something similar, though things are in the early stages.

Sources have connected the sale of the building to the School District of La Crosse.

Brown said he couldn’t comment on the future, other than to say that a new buyer would be announced soon. The district also had no comment on the matter.

The La Crosse School Board held a meeting in closed session on Jan. 7 regarding purchasing property.

Before the Brickhouse closes, acts like Hinder, Puddle of Mudd, Buckcherry and Tantric will be playing to soldout crowds.

On its Facebook page, Brown announced the last show would be on April 27 and promised to, ‘go out with a bang.’

I also act as the voice of local sports, doing play by play of high school and college football and basketball. When not working I enjoy golfing.
