Onalaska residents check out downtown improvement plans

Twenty years after the last master plan for downtown Onalaska, the city is drawing up new ones for developments and street changes.

At a meeting Tuesday night, several visitors took time out to study maps of possible changes for busy parts of the city that were on display at
Irving Pertzsch Elementary . 

Those plans included Ideas for improving downtown and the Highway 16 area. 

Onalaska Mayor Joe Chilsen said development of the Dash Park area has brought new interest to the Highway 35 corridor.

The planning process does not have a strict timeline, but the goal is to develop things that could shape how Onalaska looks 20 years from now. 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
