Two of La Crosse’s OWI arrests on New Year’s were passed out at wheel

There were four OWI arrests over the New Year holiday, according to La Crosse Police.

Drivers were pulled over at 2:06 a.m., 3:15 a.m., 6:53 a.m. and 7:15 a.m.

The highest blood alcohol level of the four was .25. Two of those drivers were passed out behind the wheel when police arrived.

That last arrest was of Christopher Haessig.

Police were called to the George Street Kwik Trip for a man who had gotten out of his car, urinated in the parking lot, got back in the car and fell back asleep.

When police woke up the 28-year-old, he said he had no memory of how he got to the gas station.

He failed field sobriety tests and blew a .15 on a breathalyzer.
