19-year-old La Crosse man accused of choking girlfriend during fight

A La Crosse man, described by his girlfriend as “a choker,” is accused of trying to strangle her during a fight at their home.

Caydin Smith is charged with strangulation, battery and disorderly conduct.

The victim claimed the 19-year-old Smith tried choking her for about a minute Wednesday and often threatens to choke her or other people.

She told police that Smith also grabbed her by the hair, lifted her off the ground and punched her in the back of the head.

Smith denied he attacked the woman.
