Foundation hands out $40,000 worth of grants to La Crosse teachers

Twenty-four grant requests totally $40,300 was a pleasant surprise on Tuesday for La Crosse teachers.

The La Crosse Public Education Foundation announced the news it had granted 24 of 39 requests.

“They’re choosing based on creativity or innovation, the ability to engage students and the total impact or reach of the project,” executive director David Stoeffler explained.

Stoeffler added that the money, in large part, comes from donations from the community, as well as a $1.5 million endowment fund.
