Culver’s farmer support is timely
It’s not secret that dairy farmers are struggling in Wisconsin.
Between rock bottom milk prices and trade wars, dairy farms are collapsing at near-record levels in the state. Hundreds of family farms have closed just this year in the face of not-even-close-to-paying-the-bills milk prices.
So, it seemed like no better time for a Wisconsin-based restaurant chain to come forward with a little boost.
The Culver’s chain, which features Wisconsin milk products on its menu, is looking for farmers to send care packages to — and not just a few farmers, either. Culvers is looking for 500 of them.
“Dairy farmers have been struggling right around us,” Alison Wedic with Culver’s said. “And Culver’s got its start right here in Wisconsin so we knew we could find a way to help.
The company begins accepting nominations for deserving farmers on its website Monday.
“We hope that we can do it,” Alison Wedic with Culver’s said. “We think that with such a support of agriculture community in Wisconsin that people want to be able to show their dairy farmers that they’re thinking of them.”
Those farmers will get care packages containing Culver’s gift cards and certificates for free food.
