Doctors hope more get vaccinated after after rough flu season last year

Many died from the flu last year in what health professionals called an epidemic.

No word on cases yet but the best way to protect yourself is a flu shot.

“Last year was a pretty rough season,” Mike Lindeke at Mayo Clinic Health System said. “The vaccination was based on previous patterns and we never exactly know how it’s going to cover for everything, until we start seeing patients coming in.”

Lindeke in La Crosse says the first few batches of the vaccination are already getting administered.

Higher risk people are encouraged to get the shot. They would include those with weakened immune systems, children and the elderly.
