La Crosse County becomes hottest market for homes in Wisconsin

Nowhere in Wisconsin are homes moving like they are in La Crosse County.

That from the Wisconsin Realtors Association’s latest look at its new data. The rate at which homes are there, then gone in La Crosse is downright frenetic.

La Crosse Area Realtors president Judy Gull says 82 percent of homes that go on the market get an offer that’s acted on between 1 and 30 days.

Gull says it’s this area.

“We have good jobs, we have all kinds of new businesses opening up around here,” she said. “Every business I talk to is booming around here. That’s the big thing, as far as our market here, being La Crosse County.”

Homes spend an average of just 63 days on the market in the county — the lowest in the state and about two-thirds the state average of 93 days.

That makes it seem challenging for buyers, Gull noted.

“They just have to be a little patient sometimes and they need to be ready,” she said. “They need to have all their financing and all their ducks in a row in a tight market like this. But a realtor will help them navigate that sale and get them a house.”

High demand has well outpaced the supply of homes not only in La Crosse but most of the rest of the state, as well, according to the Realtors group.
