Hospital fire and mail truck crashing into a train cause problems for Whitehall

A one-two punch for the city of Whitehall on (Wednesday.

The local hospital has been closed since late Tuesday night because of a fire and some mail delivery was delayed because of a collision between a mail truck and a train.

The fire at Gundersen Tri-County Hospital was put out quickly, but the building was evacuated because of smoke. It should be open again today.

As for the mail service, 150 post office boxes in Whitehall will got late deliveries Wednesday.

The mail truck collided with a train at a non-controlled crossing early Wednesday morning in Eau Claire, affecting letter and package delivery in several communities.

The accident also affected postal service in Osseo, Independence and Pigeon Falls.
