FAA grants La Crosse airport $540,000 grant
Money will be put toward a 20-year master plan.
A 20-year master plan is in the works at the La Crosse Regional Airport after receiving a $540,000 grant.
The money, which comes from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), was announced in a statement by U.S. Congressman Ron Kind.
Back in early June, the FAA announced $527.8 million in infrastructure grants for airports across the country, including $491,511 to the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport in Eau Claire, Wis., and $4 million to the Dane County Regional-Truax Field in Madison, Wis.
La Crosse airport manager Clint Torp says it’s a long process.
“We’ll be getting the project hopefully going over the next two months. It’s about an 18 to 24 month process. There’s a lot of public involvement in terms of public meetings and involvement into what the development and the airport might look like.”
Torp says they hope to look at possible development of the airport, as well as how to keep the airport an economic boost to the local economy.
