Highways beginning to open where floodwaters recede

Some state and federal highways in western Wisconsin are beginning to open again as floodwaters recede.  

As of 7 o’clock Wednesday morning, the Department of Transportation indicates a number of places where travel is possible again in the counties affected by this week’s floods.

Among the major closures remain parts of I-90 and I-94, between mile markers 69 and 79.  Both east and west bound lanes are closed.  

These are the highways still reported with closures, according to the DOT (list will be updated)

Line)

• WIS 33/131 intersection in Ontario closed
• WIS 56 closed between Viroqua and Viola
• WIS 82 closed between Slayback Road and South Mill Street (LaFarge)

o Westbound is open to traffic
