HOUSTON, Minn. — A 16-year-old Winona Senior High School student was killed Friday afternoon in a car accident.

Sophia Allena Moe was the passenger and not wearing her seatbelt when the 16-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle on Hwy. 76 near Scenic View Drive, according to the police report.

Another in the car — all three were 16 — were taken to Gundersen Health System in La Crosse for treatment. Their conditions have not been released.

Moe was going to be a junior at Winona High.

This is the second teenage death this month in the area, and involving not wearing a seatbelt.

A 15-year-old La Crosse girl died in early July in a rollover on I-90.
