Holmen hires new fire chief

The Village of Holmen has found the replacement to fire chief Paul Menches.

The Holmen Area Fire Board approved the hiring of Buck Manley, who lives in Illinois.

Manley is set to start in the job at the end of the month.

Menches announced earlier this year he intended to not renew his contract. Menches had come from Washington D.C., and spoke of bold changes to the department when he arrived, especially structurally.

Menches also was the fire chief for the City of Onalaska from 2003-2006.
