Blair man convicted on 19 of 22 counts, faces life in prison

WHITEHALL, Wis. — A Blair man faces up to 290 years in prison.

A Trempealeau County jury convicted Jeffery Sanders on 19 of 22 counts Wednesday, after a six-day trial.

A few of the charges against 55-year-old included first-degree sexual assault of a child, attempted murder, physical abuse of a child, battery to a witness and stalking.

A violent incident

Charges were originally filed in 2016. The investigation began in 2015 after Sanders was arrested for pushing a 16-year-old boy off the deck of a house on Brekke Ridge Road near Blair.

The boy’s leg was injured in the fall.
