American Legion in La Crescent demolished for new hotel

LA CRESCENT, Minn. — Bulldozers are clearing away what’s left of the former American Legion Hall on the north end of La Crescent.

The Legion is being demolished to make way for a large event center and a Best Western Plus hotel to help La Crescent compete with other smaller cities in the region.

So far $2.2 million has been raised. The goal is $4 million to complete the project.

The Legion will get to use space in the new building for its meetings and events.

The facility is scheduled to open next year.
