New agreement in place for Memorial pool design

The path forward for a new Veterans Memorial Pool in La Crosse is now set.

The city council approved an agreement with the firm Ayres Associates to get a design ready for a rebuilt pool near the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

The city has been working toward a new pool there since the old one shut down for the last time at the end of the 2015 season.

The plan agreed to last week puts $200,000 toward a design of a new pool. That design is due back in front of the council by September with construction expected to begin next year.

The pool is expected cost $4 million.
