Mississippi River pickup Saturday, followed by after-party at Pearl Street

Two local organizations are teaming up Saturday for a cleanup of the Mississippi River.

La Crosse Urban Stormwater Group and River Clean up, La Crosse have pulled out more than 500,000 pounds since the event started 25 years ago.

This year’s cleanup takes place from 8 a.m. to noon at specific landings rain or shine. Volunteers can meet on the landings in Brice Prairie, Clinton Street, 7th Street or Goose Island.

If the water is above flood stage volunteers will pick up trash along the shoreline.

An after party will take place 4-7 p.m. at the Pearl Street Brewery.
