La Crosse woman shot at on State St. last year, gets plea deal

A 20-year-old La Crosse woman, who was shot at on the street almost a year ago, has reached plea agreements in two cases in the city.

Monica Thompson has been sentenced to time served in jail. She pleaded guilty Tuesday to disorderly conduct and bail jumping, with other charges being dismissed.

Last April, shots were fired at Thompson and her mother outside a house on State Street in La Crosse.

Four men were charged in that case and Thompson was accused of feuding with the suspects on social media.

Thompson told Judge Elliot Levine that being shot at woke her up and made her want to avoid violent situations.

She’s been ordered to pay about $1,000 in court costs.
