High winds blamed for downed power line that closed Hwy 35 for hours on Saturday
Apparently, it was simply high winds that knocked over a power pole on highway 35 just north of Goose Island on Saturday morning.
This is why Hwy 35 was closed a good portion of this past weekend. This pole went down just north of Goose Island near the WKTY towers.

The La Crosse county sheriff’s office says there’s no indication that anything hit the pole that toppled over in a shower of sparks just before ten Saturday morning, knocking out power nearby and rerouting highway 35 traffic.
Crews repaired the pole and restored power hours later.
Highway 35 was reopened at about 5:30 that evening.
