La Crosse Congressman Ron Kind not a fan of Trump’s budget, infrastructure proposals

The infrastructure plan introduced by President Donald Trump on Monday isn’t being perceived well by Democrats in Congress.

Ron Kind of La Crosse was back in his hometown Monday. He said the plan doesn’t come close to giving the federal support needed.

“Right now, the president, in a $1.5 trillion plan, is only talking about a $200 billion effort from the federal government,” Kind said. “I’m not sure where the rest of that money’s going to come from.

“If he expects the private sector to come in and invest in an area like rural western Wisconsin, it’s just not going to happen.”

Kind was also critical of Trump’s budget plan, which adds to the deficit and proposes cuts to social programs.
