Readstown man, who stabbed woman “to see what it felt like” to kill, sentenced 30 years

He tried to stab a woman to “see what it felt like” to kill someone.  

Now, a 30-year prison term awaits 24-year-old Shayne Swadley in Vernon County court for the attempted murder that occurred three years ago.

The Readstown man pleaded guilty in November to the knife attack on Christine Mazilauskas at Pine Crest II Mobile Home Park of De Soto.

The victim was stabbed while asleep and woke up to find knife wounds in her neck and other body parts. Swadley reportedly had taken meth before the attack.

Mazilauskas, aged 45 when she was stabbed, said she is still traumatized by the attack.

Three other men were in the trailer and all fled. Mazilauskas managed to call 911 after the attack. She told dispatch her address and named Swadley as her attacker.
