Health insurance agents busy as federal deadline draws near

When it comes to health insurance questions, ask away.

The deadline to get insurance through the federal exchange and avoid penalty is Friday.

“Insurance can be complicated,” Wanda Palmer, a health care navigator for Workforce Connections in La Crosse, said. “No dumb questions. A lot of people, they think, ‘I should understand that but I don’t.’

“I try to give expamples and explain and educate in that way.”

When it comes to options, Palmer said there are plenty in the area – sort of.

“In La Crosse County for example, there’s two insurance providers but each of those could have a variety of plans,” Palmer said.
