Onalaska High students offered free AP courses

District offering 13 classes 

The number of Onalaska students taking AP courses is growing, according to a report given to the Onalaska School Board at this week’s meeting. 

Administration gave the Onalaska school board a report last night, which stated 91 percent of high school students planning to go to a four-year college had passed an AP course.

Taking the exam is a different story.

Roger Fruit, director of instruction, says they’re trying to help with that.

“We are going to fund every student to take at least one AP test,” he said. “We can’t make them but giving them that option will be a good thing.”

If students score a 3 or higher on a scale of 1 to 5, a high number of colleges accept it as college credit.

Fruit said they take teachers to training, which helps them become certified to be AP teachers but also helps them become better instructors.

The district offers 13 AP classes for students to take.
