Helicopter crash in Westby

Accident happened just south of Nordic Lanes 

WESTBY, Wis. — An Illinois man spraying pesticides on a local field crashed and was taken to the hospital.

Jonathan Wanda of Harvard, Ill., struck a powerline with his helicopter with the rear tail rotor. The rotor was ripped away and the helicopter spun downward until it crashed.

The accident was just south of Nordic Lanes in Westby.

The 27-year-old Wanda was taken to a local hospital for precautions. The FAA and Westby Police Dept. are investigating the incident.
