Facility, which cost around $10 million, will have 68 rooms.

Gundersen Health System’s hotel is set to open in less than a month.

Reservations for the 68-room Gundersen Hotel and Suites will begin Aug. 24. Co-owner Spencer Schram expects a soft opening Aug. 15.

“We’re giving ourselves that extra few days in case things take just a little longer than we hoped to come together,” Schram said.

On the main floor of the hotel, the indoor swimming pool already has water in it, and workers are finishing the fitness center across the hall.

Construction on the facility that cost around $10 million began a year ago.

The hotel will be connected by tunnels with the Gundersen Health System’s medical buildings.

The building will have dozens of standard rooms and 16 suites. Many of the rooms are designed for extended stays by families of patients being treated at Gundersen. Some even feature bunk beds.

The facility will be operated by the same company which runs the Holiday Inn Express in Onalaska, Wis.
