Man stabs another with samurai sword in La Crosse’s tent city

The 38-year-old took offense to being accused of stealing a drill.

Tent city in often where the homeless in La Crosse go to live. 

Friday night there, a man barged into Lucas Delorenzo’s tent, accusing him of stealing his drill while he was out fishing.

The 38-year-old Delorenzo took out his samurai sword, stabbed the 57-year-old accuser in the thigh – causing a three-inch laceration. 

Delorenzo later went and destroyed the accuser’s tent with his sword.

The man went to the hospital on his own, after refusing treatment.

Delorenzo was found walking in La Crosse a short distance away and arrested – charged with aggravated battery, disorderly conduct with a dangerous weapon.

A witness found and gave police a backpack he had thrown in the woods – one that contained a three-foot sword.

Wednesday, the La Crosse Collaborative to End Homelessness aims to clear out Tent City and find apartments or homes for those residing there to live.
