Primary day in Wisconsin. Nehlen, Buchholz, Landry looking to take down incumbents

Only 20 percent expected to take part today’s vote

New faces are part of the field on primary ballots today in Wisconsin. 

The most high profile primary race is the one that Republican Paul Ryan faces as the current Speaker of the House fights back a challenge from businessman Paul Nehlen.

But, La Crosse Democratic Congressman Ron Kind is facing a former history teacher in Myron Buchholz. 

And La Crosse state Senator Jennifer Shilling also has a challenger in Jared Landry from La Farge, Wis., who says he’s ready to make a difference. 

“I’m tired of the lies,” Landry said of the government. “I’m tried the way the government’s running. I for one want to make a difference.

“I’m tired of knowing this society, the way that it’s running, that we will never have (anything), none of us. And it’s time that it changes.”

Not many going to the polls today. Turnout is expected to top out at 20 percent.

Senator Shilling has been unavailable for comment.
