Forest Hills renovations complete, now waiting on mother nature

Holes 13 and 14 renovated

Golfers are anxiously awaiting to get back on the course after nice weekend weather turned sour the last several days.

Unfortunately, they will have to wait a little longer to play the full 18 at Forest Hills Golf Course in La Crosse thanks to a renovation to the back nine. But not too long.

“Fortunately, the renovation aspect is pretty much completed,” Forest Hills general manager Keith Stoll said. “We are completely in grow-in phase right now. Construction was completed last fall. Everything was seeded. Now, we’re awaiting for mother nature to do her trick.”

Here’s a preview of newly renovated holes 13 and 14.

The renovation was done after a new railroad line was put in through the golf course.

“We really built two completely new holes, and then we renovated three other holes,” Stoll said. “I don’t think we’re going to see a drastic change in the fact it’s such a historic golf course in our area. The two new holes will only lend itself into that.

“You’re just playing back further into Hixon Forest. It’s absolutely gorgeous back there.”

Stoll added golfers shouldn’t notice too much of a difference between the new and the old holes. The full 18-hole course should be open in July.
