Social Security an important issue, but one candidates aren’t talking about

AARP encourages people to question
presidential candidates’ plans for SS

Get ready for the last surge of candidates through Wisconsin this week ahead of next week’s presidential primary vote.  

Also get ready for lots of plans and promises.  

One promise the AARP would like to hear from all of the candidates, is more talk about plans to keep Social Security solvent over the long term.  

It’s something that’s been absent from most stump speeches.  

“You’re going to see some candidates there, and we encourage your listeners, if it’s a town hall, to ask, ‘Hey, what they would do to make social security stronger?'” Wisconsin AARP’s Jim Flaherty said.

The organization’s website lists the candidates’ stated plans for the future of Social Security.

“It’s kind of an issue nobody really wants to talk about,” Flaherty said. “It’s not a hot-pressing issue in people’s minds right now.”

Lacking is one from Donald Trump who, at this point, hasn’t released one. Although Trump has boasted he would help grow the economy so much, there wouldn’t be any need to fix the financial structure of Social Security.
