Fire at apt. happens while fire crews already there
Fire dept. was tending
to medical emergency
La Crosse fire crews just happened to be at an apartment building on Rose Street on Tuesday evening when they noticed the building was on fire.
Firefighters had been called to the 600 block of Rose for a medical emergency, shortly after 4 p.m.
While tending to a patient in the alley, a captain saw smoke and fire on the first floor of the building and called for more equipment.
The worst of the fire damage occurred in two apartments at the front of the four-plex. The cause of the fire has not yet been discovered. The Red Cross helped find shelter for tenants in all four apartments.
