Juror calls Netflix’s Making a Murderer a “movie, not a documentary”

Stands by decision in convictions

MILWAUKEE – A juror involved in the homicide case that spawned the popular Netflix series “Making a Murderer” says she stands by the verdict.

The 10-part series about the convictions of Steven Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey, which casts doubt on the legal process in the case, has been a huge hit.

And, it’s inspired armchair sleuths around the country to scrutinize the Wisconsin case years after Avery was found guilty in the slaying of photographer Teresa Halbach.

The jurors have been mostly silent. Many had made an agreement not to talk about the case after the conviction. But Diane Free told The Associated Press she’s “comfortable with the verdict we reached.”

Authorities involved in the case, including prosecution that talked with WIZM last week, say the series omits crucial facts. Free called it “a movie, not a documentary.”
