City council may have votes to grant mayor pay raise

Kabat has vetoed all attempts so far

The ball is now in the mayor’s court.

The La Crosse city council has agreed to raising the pay for the mayor to just under $80,000 a year.

Current mayor Tim Kabat has all but said he would veto the pay increase. He vetoed the last proposed pay increase and the council failed to override.

The council does appear to have the votes to overturn the veto this time around. The pay increase would go into effect after the next election.
