No new fees for Oktoberfest organizers

Fest was charged around $12k by public works last year

There will be no change coming in the fees charged to Oktoberfest organizers for the event this year in La Crosse.  

The city’s board of public works met this morning to consider the annual request for services from the fest board. 

The streets department will handle, among other things, cleanup, placement of barricades and enforcement of parade viewing rules. All of that can add up to well over $20,000 in overtime and other costs.

Last year, the fest was charged a little less than $12,000. Public works director Dale Hexom said he’s fine with that amount for this year’s event and the Oktoberfest organization says it’s not looking for any reduction, either.  

The fest will also have to pay the police department a fee which has been set at $10,000 for the last couple of years.
