NFL 53-man roster cut deadline 3 p.m. Saturday

In trying to make the Minnesota Vikings roster, Isaac Fruechte made the most of his opportunities Thursday night.

Three times the Caledonia, Minn., native was thrown to and, three times, he came away with the catch. Those grabs totaled 21 yards with a 10-yard long for Fruechte, who wrapped up preseason with six receptions for 49 yards (12-yard long).

Fruechte (shown above during training camp) will now bite his nails until Saturday’s 3 p.m., 53-man roster cut deadline with hopes of either making the team or getting on the Vikings’ practice squad.

Fruechte wasn’t the only Caledonia native playing, of course. Across the line of scrimmage sat former teammate, Karl Klug, who had three tackles on the night. Klug, in his fifth season with the Titans, signed a two-year, $3.7-million contract before this season.

Klug graduated from Caledonia High School in 2006, while Fruechte did so in 2010.
