No word on republican plans for secondary-school merger

Democrats, taxpayers and schools all left in dark on talks

No word yet on what the conversations were like when five GOP lawmakers a few weeks ago went behind closed doors to talk mergers with the UW System and the Wisconsin’s technical colleges.

Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca, who, along with his democratic party members, were not invited into the conversations, said a move like that has to have some transparency.

Barca told WIZM that living behind closed doors is not good for the taxpayers of the state and surely not good for any higher education campus that’s also being left in the dark when it comes to a merger.
