Parking ‘czar’ involves some snow plowing

A comprehensive job description for a new city parking boss will get a review by La Crosse’s parking utility board this month. The position has been nicknamed it the ‘parking czar,’ at WIZM, but it’s officially being labeled the Parking Utility Coordinator.

Plenty to the job, according to the description, including what you might expect the parking czar to do: manage parking ramps, set parking rates, negotiate leases.

But the job also calls for some pretty non-czar-like work, too. Like plowing snow, fixing broken parking gates, collecting money from the parking machines.

The job apparently would be funded entirely from revenues generated by the parking utility.
