Man who threatened to kill president charged

A Tomah man who threatened to kill President Barack Obama while he was in the area last week, has been formally charged with a crime.

 

55 year old Brian Dutcher appeared in federal court in Madison on Tuesday. The complaint says that Dutcher traveled to La Crosse on July 1st, the day before President Barack Obama was scheduled to speak at UW-La Crosse on the economy. The complaint alleges Dutcher approached a security guard at the La Crosse Public Library and said he knew the president was in town and he would shoot the president if given the opportunity. He also told an investigator that he had stated the same thing on his facebook page. A detention hearing will be held later this week.
