Big Grant Funds Natural Area Improvements

  Ten grand to help preserve some land near Prairie du Chien is a welcome gift for local conservationists.  The Mississippi Valley Conservancy has just landed a ten thousand dollar grant from 3M to help fund improvements to recently acquired land at its recently acquired property at the Sugar Creek Bluff state natural area, says Conservancy executive director Carol Abrahamzon.  She says the grant will be used to open up trails, improve accessibility as well as work on restoration of the property. 

The Sugar Creek property is close to a 3M plant and Abrahamzon says, the company is active in promoting conservation of the area. Abrahamzon says large grants like the one from 3M, though rare, are essential to not only preserving land but maintaining it as well.
