The Halves Have it For High School Ballers

For nearly a decade, high school basketball in Minnesota has played with two 18-minute halves. Thursday, the WIAA made the same change. For a one-year trial, varsity basketball in Wisconsin will no longer be 8-minute quarters. The board voted 7-to-4 for the change. It’s not the first time the WIAA has tried to adopt halves. During the 2009-10 season, coaches had the choice to play 16-minute halves for regular-season, non-conference games. The experiment was rarely used.
